Buriram, Thailand, 24 July 2016 - Global tyre brand, Giti held a soft launch at Chang International Circuit today by taking fans on a drifting experience with Asia’s popular motorsport athletes, Leona Chin and Sam Young.

The Ride & Drift Experience was part of the brand’s soft launch in Thailand and in conjunction with the Formula Masters China Series (FMCS), in which the Giti Compete GTR1 has been fronting as its official tyre since 2013.

Giti also introduced its latest motorsports tyres, the Giti Sport GTR3 RR1 by featuring them on a Veilside Bentley-Supra and a Nissan Cefiro, both which were used for the Ride & Drift Experience. Fans, local distributors and dealers were quick enough to seize the rare chance of sitting next to Leona and Sam as they hit the track in these high-performance vehicles.

Leona was already a known professional motorsport athlete in Malaysia and across Asia before she gained international fame through a viral prank video, where she was seen posing as an innocent girl who stunned driving instructors with her unexpected drifting skills. Meanwhile, Sam is a seasoned racer who has been dominating the gymkhana scene locally and internationally alongside Leona.

Regarding the brand’s plan while in Buriram, Elson Lee, ASEAN Business Development Manager said, “Many of us are well aware of the current economic difficulties present within the market, and this means that we need to be extra creative and supportive in our sales methods and marketing ideas. With the great support and cohesiveness of our dealer network, we are confident that we will together produce great success for Giti PCR in the long run.”

Shiroo Chia, International Deputy Marketing Manager also added, “This year, we aim to capture growth in expanding markets, especially in ASEAN. We want to customise opportune marketing activities to support our branding development in Thailand as well.”
